Copper impregnated graphite is ideal for EDM’ing Beryllium Copper, Titanium, and Carbide. EDM machines should be set up in negative polarity when EDM’ing exotic materials. Set up in negative polarity which maximizes the spark energy and helps meet the thermal requirements for effectively EDM’ing these materials. This will increase metal removal rate and increase electrode wear. In addition, the on-time settings should be reduced when cutting exotic alloys.
